The HHB Healing Foundation utilizes horse coaching to facilitate connection, healing and empowerment for those in need.


The HHB Healing Foundation is a non-profit 501C3 organization that was formed in 2017.  The Foundation offers a number of programs including :  individual and group horse coaching, HHB Kid’s Club, student mentoring, equine assisted learning/riding,  school farm field days, teen connections summer program, young women and young men empowerment programs and much more….



Dave has worked extensively as a Clinical Social Worker in the field of adolescent development.  Dave is the Founder and Program Director for a youth dance mentoring program and currently works for the Bridges Foundation of Maine as a Social Worker.   He has been a teacher and lecturer at Plymouth State University and has been an Executive Director, Clinician and Administrator for several other organizations serving youth.


Paula Lambie has a four year education in Integrated Horsemanship, Riding Instructor/Trainer, and Clinician from Integrated Horsemanship Filosofie in the Netherlands. Additionally, Paula has a Master’s Certification in Reiki Usui and a horse coaching certification from BonSpirit in the Netherlands. Paula has over 25 years of experience facilitating healing, horse coaching, life coaching and equine assisted learning/riding for children, youth and adults both in Europe and the United States.


PRESIDENT:  Laurie Ferris

Laurie has many years of experience in Administration and Leadership roles for non-profit organizations with a focus on highly sensitive children struggling with emotional, social and behavioral challenges.  She has worked as the Assistant Director of the former Hunter School, as the Co-Director of the Mindful Bridges Outreach Program and currently as a Family and Community Parent Advocate for NAMI NH (National Alliance of Mental Illness).

TREASURER: Brenda G. Monahan

Brenda is certified as a Special Education Administrator, Principal and Special Education Teacher.  She has worked as a Special Services Coordinator at Kennett High School in Conway, NH where she trained, supervised and evaluated Special Ed teachers and Case Managers. Brenda also was responsible for coordinating services for Special Ed students within the general educational environment. Brenda has also been certified as a Trainer for Positive Behavioral Supports.

SECRETARY: Denise M. Adam

Denise has had extensive work experience as a Secretary and Administrative Assistant. She has also worked as a Job Coach, Residential Advisor, Banquet Organizer, Enumerator and Receptionist.  Denise has strong organizational, communication and customer service skills and has trained others in computer skills.

BOARD MEMBER: Paul Beauvais

Paul worked for Delta Airlines for 34 years and 10 years as a receiver at Shaw’s Grocery chain. Paul is a Native American who has a special affinity and understanding of the healing powers of horses. His dedication and strong work ethic is evidenced by his work as a volunteer at HHB Healing
Foundation.  Paul understands the programs and is very effective working with children and horses as a spiritual mentor and educator of the Native American way.


Pete’s educational background includes flight training, business management, mathematics, navigation, meteorology, finance, accounting and statistics.  Pete is an Airline Transport Pilot for NetJets Inc. and co-owner of Human Horse Balance, LLC.  Pete has been responsible for the development, business management, setting up of programs, volunteer and Board recruitment at the Foundation.

BOARD MEMBER: Karen J. McCarthy

Karen has been an Elementary School Teacher and Guidance Counselor in MA. She worked many years as the Administrator of the Women’s Unit at the Pine Street Inn Homeless Shelter in Boston and was the Executive Director of the Somerville Homeless Coalition’s Adult and Family Shelters. In Maine, Karen was the Owner and Founder of Counseling Connections and worked as a psychotherapist for children and adults. Karen is also a Reiki Master for animals. She has developed, organized, trained and supervised staffs, designed and developed programs, wrote Personnel Policies, prepared time sheets for payrolls and wrote many grant proposals.  In addition, Karen was trained as a consultant for non-profit Boards giving workshops at Boston University and MIT to Board Presidents.


Devon has been a Financial Advisor for individuals with personal financial goals, for retirement planning, education savings and estate planning.  She has been a Sales Representative and Sales Operations Analyst for a technology company in Massachusetts and has been a Membership Advisor for Equinox in Connecticut, advising members on methods of reaching their goals.


Maatje is the Co-Founder and Owner of Bon Spirit, a Netherlands based company with over 20 years of horse coaching/leadership experience, both individual and corporate in nature.  Maatje is a mentor and valued member of the HHB Healing Foundation Board of Directors.
